A message from Vice-President Nate Wendling
Dear OTSC Families,
We hope this message finds you well and that your summer is off to a fantastic start! First and foremost, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the families, players, coaches, and volunteers for making the Spring season such a success. Your hard work, dedication, and support—both on and off the field—do not go unnoticed and are deeply appreciated.
Our goal as an organization is to provide and maintain opportunities for our players to have continual growth both on and off the field. We are thrilled to announce we have open field sessions offered this summer for all OTSC players on Sunday evenings starting June 22 nd . Detailed information has been sent out via the Team Reach app. We're also in the final stages of planning our annual Wormburner Golf Fundraiser at Campbell’s Cove Campground later this summer. Stay tuned—details will be announced very soon!
Lastly, we encourage all OTSC players to stay active and continue developing their skills during the offseason. Whether it's individual work at home, attending local youth camps, or participating in OTSC training sessions, staying engaged with the game is key. Success in soccer is built on consistent effort and time spent improving technical skills—such as passing, trapping, ball control, positional awareness, and communication. The more touches you get on the ball, the more growth you’ll see on the field.
ENJOY YOUR SUMMER
Sincerely,
Nate Wendling

SPRING 25 TEAM SPOTLIGHT
COACHES: Greg Rimkus and John Ireton
The GU13 team capped off their season with a well-earned Tournament Championship win at Spindler Park, finishing with a 7-2-3 record.
This success is a testament to the players' hard work and growth, driven by a strong emphasis on tactical understanding and technical skill development throughout the season.
Coach Rimkus and Coach Ireton remain committed to helping every player build the foundation necessary to compete at the next level, should they choose to pursue it.
The team’s core philosophy has always been—and will continue to be—centered around possession-based play, with a clear and consistent focus on development over results.
“We prioritize possession. Possession allows us to be a team more effective than the sum of the individuals. Possession can be complicated, and we try to focus on the many parts. We preach accepting the ball on your off “foot”, turning the ball out of pressure, moving the ball to space and to advantage, finding overloads, moving off ball, shape and pass technique. We train for those priorities and trying to maximize the number of touches every player gets in a session. We train with a lot of two touch max, Rondos, 3v3, winger games, and four corners.” Both coaches also heavily focus on complement vs. correction as a tactic for development.
“Don’t forget your players are all humans and will respond best to two compliments for every 1 correction. Correction rates below 2:1 are much less effective.”
Great work, GU13! We’re excited to see your continued success in the future!

Volunteer Spotlight
Old Town Soccer Club is a volunteer organization. We cannot do what we do with our volunteers. Here are a few that we would like to introduce to you. If you would like to volunteer please contact vicepresident@oldtown.soccer
Patrick and Staci Howe have been a part of the Old Town Soccer Club family for 7 years. Their three boys—Aiden, Isaac, and Emmett—have all played with OTSC, and the entire family has made a lasting impact on our club community.
Patrick Howe has been an active and reliable presence, consistently lending a hand wherever needed. He’s deeply involved in field maintenance, often the first to arrive at the fields to set up tents, benches, and more. He also takes the lead in putting up and taking down our sponsorship banners and is known for manning the grill like a true five-star chef during tournament weekends.
Staci Howe has played a vital leadership role in the club’s growth, especially through her work in sponsorship development. She was instrumental in establishing and leading our Sponsorship Committee, dedicating countless hours to building strong relationships with local businesses. Her work has been a cornerstone of our ability to maintain high-quality programming while keeping costs manageable for families. In addition, Staci is always ready to step in wherever help is needed—from coordinating concessions and supporting our annual parent meeting, to setting up summer camps and organizing OTSC fanwear through local vendors.
We at Old Town Soccer Club would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to Patrick and Staci for their incredible dedication. Your selfless contributions have shaped the success of our club, and we are truly grateful. OTSC wouldn’t be what it is today without families like yours.
We are incredibly fortunate to have volunteers like Patrick and Staci. If you would like to volunteer please contact Nate Wendling at vicepresident@oldtown.soccer.
